Happy Saint Patrick's Day, a day for good-hearted threatening of strangers who choose not to wear my second favorite color.
Now here's a very quick latte-induced recap of my fourth-favorite holiday.
Awesome: Wearing my sweet new thrifted green shirt (washed of course).
Awkward: Wearing a lovely top that unfortunately looked like I pulled it out of a trash bin a month ago, and spent that entire time sleeping in it. (I really need to purchase an iron.)
Awesome: Having perfect sandal weather in the middle of March.
Awkward: Wearing ballet flats because half your toenail fell of this morning. An injury that may have been caused by the Ides of March... or might have had something to do with dropping a stinkin' poster print smack dab on Tiger.
Awesome: Having a super sweet green/white striped scarf to put on my purse for today's special occasion.
Awkward: Realizing no one at work cared/knew what today was.
Awesome: When a coworker trusts your opinions about facial hair.
Awkward: When said coworker suggests you grow out your facial hair.
Awesome: Getting a free Snickers bar.
Awkward: Letting said Snickers bar melt and then getting it all over your face. In the middle of the day. At your desk. Looking like a "poop face" while trying to maintain professionalism.
Awesome: Taking an early lunch.
Awkward: The phone call the dump truck driver must have made to Allstate after taking out a pole to 'cause my early lunch break.
Awesome: Meeting a sweet neighbor with a green thumb.
Awkward: Learning that neighbor's life history approximately fifteen minutes before learning her name. History including the last six months' medical report, minus explanation for "green thumb."
Awesome: Asking the bug sprayer man if he's got green on his uniform.
Awkward: When the bug sprayer man tugs at his collared shirt to reveal an extremely low-cut green undershirt.
Awesome: Feeling surprisingly un-guilty about having not been to the gym in five days.
Awkward: Worrying what it means that they - the Gold people - haven't called me.
Awesome: Thursday night "Bible" study serving as an excuse to buy a giant pie.
Awkward: Waiting impatiently for someone to declare it "high time for pie time."
Awesome: Finally being asked to shut off the air conditioner that has been turning your fingers blue.
Awkward: Standing in front of the unit feeling like you're in a shampoo commercial, hoping other people don't notice you practicing your hair flips in front of the fan.
Awesome: Perfect evening for sipping a latte on the deck of Waco's most crowded charming coffee shop.
Awkard: Trying not to do the "I need to pee" dance on deck.
Awesome: Tomorrow being Friday.
Awkward: Tomorrow coming in 5 minutes, long before I've finished my self-inflicted homework.
Awesome: Realizing your post title has nothing to do with your post.
Awkward: Being too lazy Liking it too much to change it.
Awesome: Thinking a quick Photobooth shot of the epic awkward turtle hand gesture will solve the problem.
Awkward: Suddenly, sadly realizing you've forgotten how to do the awkward turtle. WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME?
And on that awkward note, I think oughtta say "goodnight."
I hope you've had a fantastic Saint Patty's Day, one so utterly fantastic you had to pinch yourself!
Aren't these just magical?
And Allison, bug sprayer man was indeed about 50! :) Which was way better than if he had been, like, 20.
Also, "hair flips" might have been a slight exaggeration. I definitely turned my head side-to-side more frequently than usual, which has the same effect.
(Thanks for the scarf. It's super cute. I waited 'til Wednesday to open that particular package.)
