I know I have a habit of using this blog to propagandize the joys of cupcakes and to publicize how uncoordinated I am.
But tonight I'd like to break away from the usual, and talk about BASKETBALL!
*And yes, there is ice cream involved. But still. This is new territory. Totally!
Why break from the traditional and talk about Bball, you ask. Well, 'cause I LOVE BASKETBALL. Really, I do.
It's my favorite sport to watch and play (if you don't count ping pong). And also my favorite sport to talk about (the only sport I know enough to talk about actually).
Unlike football where lazy, faceless men can take a knee with time left on the clock, a basketball game isn't over 'til the last buzzer sounds! ;) And unlike baseball, which frequently involves chubby men jogging around some bases, basketball is a sport for freakishly tall, slender people to defy gravity.
But most importantly, I just got home from attending one fantastic basketball game with my father. So what better time to let you in on this different side of me than now? None I say. So let's go.
While I could use this blogortunity to talk about my own basketball days - meaning the years in junior high and high school when I finally thanked God for making me (what felt like at the time) freakishly tall...
I would much rather talk about a different brand of basketball. A flashy, fantastic brand to be exact.
Yup, tonight I'd like to give you 41 Reasons to Love the Dallas Mavericks!
1. Crowd participation.
It was even better when they picked the world's oddest couples for the Kiss Cam. Can you say Kissing Cousins?
2. Big dawgs. Seriously.
3. With mustard AND relish by the way.
4. And yes... that's FREE refills! HELLO!
5. I already mentioned the ice cream!
6. Sign me up for any chance to hoot and holler, especially holler.
7. Add to that craft time!!! Woohoo!
If that looks to you like Jason Terry leaving on a whale back, then you're not alone but you're not right either. Not according to the "artist" at least (me).
8. They always play the most amazing music at basketball games! Anyone remember Jock Jams from the late 90's? :)
9. Which reminds me... Jump! Jump!
Watch out Kidd... that's a pretty impressive vertical.
10. The friendly rivalry professional basketball brings out is also superb.
11 - 38. A fantastic roster. DIRK specifically. And JET. And Kidd. And that weird looking horse mascot. And the weirder halftime entertainment - hello acrobats in flame-imprinted leotards. And the drumline. Void of Nick Canon. And some big guys, shaking their bellies. I think they count as 20 or so reasons themselves.
39. The AA center is awesome.
40. And endorsed by all too fitting celebrities!
Get it? AA?
41. But my favorite reason for supporting the Mavs is of course...
This man right here. My DAD! A clever man. A great cheerleader. And also one of my all-time favorite people.
His team is my team. And that makes us both pretty happy.
I mean, so did the free crunchy taco coupon. And the come-from-behind-in-the-last-quarter victory didn't hurt either.
But it was the Daddy/Daughter time that totally made the evening. And it's definitely thanks to my Dad that I'll be a basketball lover for life.
Hope you're experiencing a winning weekend.
Thanks Allison! It was a lot of fun. I'm pretty sure my Dad and I took 5 times as long as anyone else making our signs.
We apparently take the job of cutting out players' heads and gluing them to posterboard VERY seriously. :)

I'm a fan of the mask and craft time! Hilarious!

Thank you Jessie. I know that is entirely in response to my awesome whale poster. :)
