December is off to a beautiful start.
Afer a very busy fall, I'm incredibly grateful this month feels slower so far, cozier.
And even though it's been hotter than a mug around here (in the 80's this week) the Christmas spirit is definitely kicking in.
We spent Saturday spent baking up a storm (and by that I mean there was a kitchen counter overflowing with fragile* sweets).
*Get it? They're very fragile!
Sunday was dedicated to working on a downtown window display, one filled with a charming snow family.
And today (Monday) I've had the joy of being around while my Mom (not Snow Mom above, but my human Mom) put up the Christmas tree, and began attempts to train the cat not to jump into/eat it. Good times.
This is the first year in a decade my parents have had a pet-filled home. It presents challenges, but I think the tree (and my family's sanity) will survive with a little help from this:
It really is a magical season. And we haven't even watched Elf yet.
There's lots to look forward to in the coming weeks.
But mostly I'm looking forward to lots of time spent with the people (and furry friends) I love.
Here's hoping your December is filled with all that's merry and bright, and plenty of chances to slow down and smell the cookies.
