Since I talked about saying "yes" to scary things yesterday, I thought it'd be nice to offer a little more encouragement (and some clarification today).
When I said I am trying to say "yes" to scary things I did mean within reason.
I wasn't talking about going against all of ol' McGruff's good advice for instance.
I’m not saying, “Sure, I guess I could try heroin just this once.”
More like, “Why yes I can try making my own crepes!”
And, "I think I will wear that quirky new cardigan I bought."
If those sound like lame things to be brave about, you have a point. But also, ouch.
Truth is, I'm hoping bravery has a snowball effect. You know, start small and it'll roll into something bigger.
I suppose we'll see. But if nothing else, I can now make pretty decent crepes! :) That's a win in my book.
There’s lots of really great inspiration for finding courage out in the interwebs, but one of my favorite pieces of wisdom comes from one of my favorite funny ladies.
When I think of brave, successful women she's one of the first that comes to mind, and this succinct article has proved especially helpful.
I’ve heard before that improv lessons can prove useful in many
aspects of life, but I think I’ll save myself the trouble of taking a class,
and stick to the article (and bullet points provided in Bossypants).
Happy Tuesday to you friends.
